Latest news

Life has rather got the better of art over the last few months. However, we are finally at home in our future in Clermont Ferrand. From my window I can see the twin spires of the old cathedral against the green hills of Central France.

With time at last I've been taking my paints up amongst the trees to feed the muse (and the mosquitos). The fractured light and knotted textures of these dense woodlands look like being my subject for the coming months as I explore a freer and more organic mark in my watercolours.

In May I showed with Les Arts en Balades, a large open studios and gallery event held in and around the city. I was lucky enough to be shortlisted for le Prix Coup de Coeur as part of this, with a joint exhibition for the shorlisted artists at le Centre Camille Claudel, a fine municipal gallery here in Clermont.

Over the weekend of 21-22 September 2024, I will have the pleasure of exhibiting my recent explorations in paint as part of Pignols'Arts.

With the wolf beginning to whine at the door at night, I'll be continuing, via Zoom, to teach my Wednesday night watercolour classes for the Edinburgh Drawing School. I'm also hoping to get some courses in watercolour going over here at Ozala and the aforementioned Centre Camille Claudel. More details (and links) to follow.

Finally, I have been creating a set of step-by-step lessons to be shared on line. For further details, see the Courses page above. Should you be interested, please feel free to contact me with any questions.
