Since life was so dramatically punctuated by a virus, I have reconnected with my original love of watercolour.
The colours with this medium are uniquely rich, and by clarifying my mark making, I have found new ways to make the colour vibrate on the paper. I've also disinterred some thirty year old gouache paints, which carry the brighter hues of yesteryear into paintings of an intensity almost to blind the eye. There's an example of this on the right.
In addition, my work was part of the On a Small Scale exhibition at the Open Eye Gallery, and I have a solo exhibition scheduled for May 2023 at the same gallery. (I'll post a link to this nearer the date).
I am also still offering classes. A programme is available through the Edinburgh Drawing School.
Finally, I have been creating a set of step-by-step lessons to be shared on line. For further details, see the courses page above. Should you be interested, please feel free to contact me with any questions.
In January 2018, I won Glasgow Arts Club Prize at the Open-SSA and VAS Together 2018 and the W.Gordon Smith and Mrs Jay Gordonsmith Award at the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (RSW).
And sent forth their fragrance, (Clermont Ferrand)
